As we discussed events in history leading up to Brown v. Board of Education and the responses of citizens to its outcome, students were full of questions. Here are some questions that they wished to ask, if they can be answered. They were really interested in learning just how unequal African Americans were treated at the time of the cases in Brown v. Board of Education.
Here are our class questions:
1. What was considered the worst inequality between white and black schools that outraged most people then?
2. Through all the series of events, what specific group of people or person caused the most difficulty in the court cases?
3. What was the worse treatment/harassment that they have heard an African American had received in school?
4. Did the events unfold as people hoped they would have after the trials?
5. As grading and assignments are concerned, were African Americans treated differently after desegregation?
