Mike, Rick, and Greg were at the CI bridging workshop in Indy. It was focused on data and networking. There is a need to define how to use CI. Desire to have a 10G on desktop, but no reason why. Networking expands, but the applications lag.

On the survey... Many people didn't know what CI was. There was an agreement that there needs to be some storage. For people who use large data sets, they need to be able to share. It was listed as a low to medium priority, but the comments indicated otherwise. Perhaps the data isn't being taken care of as well as it should.

Other things mentioned in the free from response: 1. Security 2. Training for students 3. Bandwidth: individuals trying to move data, trying to work from home 4. Specialized tools for a particular research area, and a need for certain resources. could be a training issue. 5. Specialized software 6. Training, like webinaires 7. Support. How to use, or some tech support 8. Data and computational resources

Does GPN need some kind of helpdesk functionality?

Should GPN develop a CI helpdesk model? Question for next round of survey.

Is there a purchasing cooperative through GPN to buy software? No one was sure of the answer, but was not aware of any.

We should ask if they'd be willing to pay for more services, but we're not sure if the people filling out survey are the purchasers.

Is this important enough to direct your campus resources to? Would you fund this? What would be the best way to fund this application? Phrasing the question like that will probably get the most useful response.

Greg will send out a list of areas, then a mockup of the next round of the survey.
