GPN is currently offering a total of one terrabyte of storage to GPN members. The GPN storage is accessible through the GPN-VO Repository.

Get A GPN Identity

In order to access the GPN Storage, you need to have a GPN Identity. If you don't have an identity and would like one, please contact GPN support at support@greatplains.net. Please include your full name, email address and the institution you are with.

Accessing GPN Storage

  • Note: you may recieve warnings from your internet browser about the site being untrusted do to self signed certificates. Just ignored those and continue.
  1. Go to the GP.Middleware Shibboleth VO at https://osprey.rnet.missouri.edu/GPN/
  2. You will be redirected to the GPN Wayf. Here you will select your university or organization that corresponds to your id. Then click OK.
  3. You will then be prompted to enter your username and password. Enter your username and password for the university/organization you selected previously.
  4. You will be redirected to the GP.Middleware Shibboleth VO. On this page, click the Project Access button, located in the middle of the page.
  5. The next menu presents multiple options. File Process and File Upload pertain to accessing the GPN Storage.
  6. If you are wanting to browse the repository, click the File Process button.
    1. At this point you are either at your own location in the repository or the root of the public storage.
      • If you see folder called GP.Middleware, you are in your private directory, click GP.Middleware to access the public storage. If this isn't the case, then you are at the root of the public storage.
    2. Then click on the GPNStor link in the middle of the page. You are now at the GPN Storage.
    3. See the File Process section below for information on what you can do for here.
  7. If you are wanting to upload to the repository, see the File Upload section below.

File Process

File process allows you to browse and download files in the repository.

  • Current Directory: Towards the top of the page you will see the text Current Directory, this tells you where you are in the repository. The root of repository is "/". If you have a private directory, the GPN Storage is located at /GP.Middleware/GPNstor. If you don't have a private directory, the GPN Storage is at /GPNstor.
  • Folders/Files: Folders and files are listed in middle of the page with the filename and other properties. Folders will be displayed with red text and files with blue text. The checkbox next to each file/folder is for selecting that item.
  • Back: When browsing the GPN storage, hitting the back button will either take you up one directory, or will take you back to the previous page.
  • Downloading:
  1. To download a file, you first must select the file using the checkbox to the left of the filename. You may selected more than one file to download. Then hit the Download Selected Files button.
    • If you would like to download all files in the current directory, hit the Download All Files button.
  2. On the next page you will see a listing of the files you selected.
    • If you want to download your files as a zip file, click the Download Files (as zip) button.
    • If you want to download your files as tar with gzip compression, hit the Download Files (as tar.gz) button.
    • If you only have one file selected, either button will allow you to download the individual file. It will not be put in an archive.
  • Deleting: Files may be deleted by first selecting them and then hit the Delete Selected Files button. If you want to remove a directory, select the directory first, then hit the Remove Directory button.
  • Creating a Folder: If you would like to create a folder in the current directory, hit the Make Directory button. You will then need to enter a name of the directory.
  • Copying: If you would like to copy a file, click the Copy File button. You will be redirected to a page where you need to enter the name of the file to be copied in the Name of the Source File box. In the Name of Destination File box enter the location of where you want the file copied to.
  • Moving a File: To move a file, click the Move File button. You will be redirected to a page where you need to enter the name of the file to be moved in the Name of the Source File box. In the Name of Destination File box enter the location of where you want the file move to.
  • Refresh Listing: Click the Refresh Listing button to refresh the listing of the current directory.

File Upload

  • Anytime while browsing the GPN storage through File Process, you can upload a file by clicking the Upload File button.
  • If you have a private directory, you can upload directly to it by choosing File Upload instead of File Process at the main menu.

How To Upload

  1. Navigate to the directory where you want to upload using File Process and click the Upload File button.
  2. Click the Browse button to select the file you would like to upload.
  3. Click the Start Upload button to begin uploading your file to your current directory.
